We've got Butterflies! Jo Rooks and a Box of Butterflies at the Barnes Children's Literature Festival 2019!

Our very own Plum Jo Rooks will be at the Barnes Children's Literature Festival this year, narrating the play for her book A Box of Butterflies!

The Barnes Children's Festival is an annual two-day festival celebrating children's literature. Based in London, the festival is taking place on Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th May. Throughout the weekend there are events and activities taking place in various venues around Barnes Pond, including a performance of A Box of Butterflies, written (and narrated!) by our Plum Jo Rooks!

Jo and events company Magical Quests have worked together to create a play from Jo's beautiful book, A Box of Butterflies. The book, published by Magination Press, follows little girl Ruby as she teachers her friend Robot all about different emotions humans can experience. It identifies a range of emotions, from jealously to anger to love, and takes the reader on a journey of emotional reflection and self-discovery.

Jo will be narrating the story while the highly trained actors of Magical Quest perform the play at the Barnes Children's Literature Festival this year. The play will be "a sensory and interactive book reading with drama, dance, puppetry and music to help the story come to life". You can find out more about Magical Quest here.

This magical event will take place on Sunday May 12th from 10:30am to 11:30am, at the Bookshop Marquee in Barnes Green.
